It’s been great to see the interest grow in Membase NoSQL database technology since the open source project was established in June. There is a lot of demand for technical information and use case examples (especially about what Zynga is doing with the technology), and so…

Starting next week, you’ll start to see Membase meetups in major U.S. cities. Membase project leaders and local users will lead the meetups, covering topics such as:

  • An Overview of Membase
  • Use Cases and Customer Examples
  • Membase Architecture
  • A demonstration of Membase in action
  • Developing with Membase – Key-Value Basics
  • Developing with Membase – NodeCode Modules

East Coat and West Coast meetups are scheduled for this fall, with others to follow in the first quarter of next year.

San Francisco, Thursday October 28: This meetup will take place in Zynga’s San Francisco offices from 6-9pm, and we’ll hear from Zynga engineering about how they are using Membase behind their games. Special thanks to Zynga for the use of their facility and for the beer! Pizza will also be provided to attendees. Register here.

New York City, Wednesday November 3: In addition to the core technology discussion, ad targeting is a special topic for this meetup, and we’ll cover the just-announced integration of Membase and Cloudera to support this use case. We are looking forward to connecting with the NYC NoSQL meetup crowd (thanks to Ivan Brusic for his help!) and hope to see some Hadoop users too! 6-9pm in midtown – free pizza and beer. Register here.

Boston, Thursday November 4: Special thanks to Membase user NaviNet who is hosting this meetup in their facility (in Cambridge near Kendall Square). NaviNet development will be on hand to share their use and experiences with Membase to date. Pizza and beer will be served at 6pm. Tech talk will last until 9pm. Register here.

Silicon Valley, Wednesday November 10: We’re hoping to see many Membase early adopters at this meetup near our home turf. Thanks to Hewlett-Packard for use of facilities at its Cupertino campus. Meetup runs from 6-9pm with free pizza and beer. Register here.

More information on future meetups is available on the Membase website. If you are interested in helping to organize a meetup in your area, drop us a line at meetup@couchbase.com.  We're also interested in joining other user group meetings or meetups on related topics, so let us know if you're an organizer or a member of one we should drop in on.

We hope to see you soon at a meetup near you!
