I’m very excited to announce the launch of Couchbase PartnerEngage, a new partner program tailored for resellers, system integrators, consultants and technology partners to capitalize on the Engagement Database market opportunity. Though Couchbase has been active in the partner community for years–working with more than 150 partners around the world– we’ve formalized and added significant investment to accelerate this part of our business through PartnerEngage.

PartnerEngage will help us expand into new global markets, enable and activate new route-to-market partners, expand our technology partner ecosystem through new strategic joint solutions, and drive mutual profitability with our partners. For our customers, PartnerEngage will provide more options and enhanced availability to reach Couchbase. Customers will be able to work with partners with whom they already have a relationship–partners who will now have access to additional training, content, and tools to better serve customers’ needs. Finally, customers can expect to see Couchbase delivering even more joint technology integrations and solutions with partners, thereby lowering overall TCO and accelerating time to market for new initiatives.

Beyond the basic requirement to have regional and language specific partner coverage, Couchbase’s goal is to find the right partners versus a target number of partners. We’re looking for critical partners in key regions, and success for the PartnerEngage program is dependent on the quality of partners over the quantity of partners. Today, about 15% of our new business is sourced from partners or heavily influenced by partners. We plan to double that to 30% in the first year.

Why now, you ask? Great question, but I would say why not now? We are at the right stage in the evolution of our company to invest to scale out aggressively on a global level. In addition, our partners are pushing us to add new components to our program to help make them more successful. We’ve built a whole new infrastructure to support our partners, added new benefits, bigger discounts, unique marketing opportunities, and outlined clear requirements so that we can invest in the partners who want to invest the most in building their practice or solution with Couchbase. All of this is now made available via PartnerEngage.

Couchbase is uniquely positioned to help our partners develop differentiated practices and integrated solutions. First, our Engagement Database is well aligned to support partners through a web, mobile and IoT market in rapid transition. The market itself is projected to be nearly $11B by 2021, growing at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 40%. Second, Couchbase is built to address partners’ challenges delivering consistently brilliant, personalized and responsive digital experiences. Legacy technologies or stop gap solutions are complex, inflexible, costly, and unable to deliver these experiences. Couchbase delivers unsurpassed agility and flexibility, with N1QL for JSON (our SQL-like query language). We deliver unparalleled performance and are the easiest database to manage at scale. Finally, our partners have told us they’ve seen a 5-10x lift from the Couchbase subscription license with professional services through services such as architecture reviews, residencies, query tuning workshop and health checks. Partners love the sustainable cash flow from our subscription license and the significant land and expand opportunities from initial new customer deals.

Check out the Partner with Couchbase page to learn more about PartnerEngage, including a complete break out of benefits and requirements within our two levels (Registered and Advanced), and across our two categories of partners (Solution Partner and Technology Partner). Also explore our Referral and Reseller models with commissions/discounts. Finally, if you have any questions, we’d like to hear from you. Please reach out to partners@couchbase.com.
