Mobile at Web 2.0
Today I spoke at Web 2.0, about the differences between Mobile and traditional Web 2.0 architectures. The biggest difference I identified, is that mobile devices frequently have unreliable connections. Even when the connection is available, it often has high latencies. Users are familiar with long waits when browsing the web or sending tweets, but that doesn't mean they like it.
Achievement Unlocked: Beta Release of Couchbase Mobile for iOS
Mobile synchronization is a hard problem, and one that is becoming more important everyday. More users have multiple devices, and applications these days are built to allow people to share and collaborate on data. Developers have to contend with spotty connections and the high latency of mobile broadband. Any application that depends on a remote server for interactivity is frequently unusable in these real world conditions.
Couchbase Mobile: See the video!
We just put the finishing touches on the video of my CouchConf session on mobile applications and CouchSync. I'm super excited about it and hope you will take a few minutes to watch it, particularly to see the demo of all the cool stuff you can do with Couchbase Mobile.
Enjoy!

Going to WWDC? Check out my OnTheSpot app!
Hey from Couchbase! Jan Lehnardt and I are really excited to be going to the Apple WorldWide Developer Conference June 6-10. Aside from just going to the conference I wanna tell you guys about my OnTheSpot app!
What is OnTheSpot?
It’s a photo sharing app with location tied to photos. Its saves photos with lat/lon and other telemetry to Mobile Couchbase. Coolest part about it is the different apps can share the same dataset, and hence share network effects.
